I Can’t Forget That Tree

April 12th, 2010 Jaxon No comments

Two quick tracks for your Monday evening, one comes courtesy of a Sydney artist while the other is a re rub from the United Kingdon

After a string of succesful bootlegs of older tracks, Benson has focused his energy on Snoop & Kid Cudi’s That Tree which was produced by Diplo. This is a bit different to what we have known and loved by Benson in recent times, its a bit more on an experimental tropical side. The man is signed to a new Sydney Management company called Trouble Artists, artists such as Northie, Dave Winnel & Adam Bozzetto are also on the roster which is rather impressive for a company that is just starting. After all my writings about Benson, I don’t think any of it comes close to his bio but it all speaks the truth.

Snoop Dogg Ft. Kid Cudi – That Tree (Benson Remix)

I have been really impressed with all the production that GoGoBizkitt has been putting on his soundcloud lately, it is a mixture of filter french house and funky nu disco. Here is the latest re-rub that he has released, the track builds up nicely and combines elements of the original track, with loops and other samples to create a funked up re rub of the original.

The Whispers – And the beat goes on! GoGoBizkitt!! Re-Rub

Tomorrow I have some tracks from Ghosts Of Venice, some seriously good shit!

Brain Matters on the way to a gig

The Central Coast is an urban region in the Australian state of New South Wales, located on the coast north of Sydney and south of Lake Macquarie.

The Central Coast has an approximate population of 299,000 making it the third largest urban area in New South Wales and the ninth largest urban area in Australia. Geographically, the Central Coast is generally considered to include the region bounded by the Hawkesbury River in the south, the Watagan Mountains in the west and the southern end of Lake Macquarie in the north.

Brain Matters are a DJ/Production due consisting of Vacation Record’s very own Northie and Benson who was one of my first musical discoveries a few years back plus he is fantastic for the economy at this time of the year.

The boys musical taste, production style and djing techniques help balance this duo and make it so great, they are a great compliment for each other and offer free prostate examinations at all of their gigs.

Now what does the Central Coast & Brain Matters have in common, well besides Sea FM the boys are the greatest musical product from the Central Coast. They have done official remixes for RQM and MC Mego (out on onelove) and have made killer bootlegs of Sandstorm, The Weekend and Raven to name a few plus some promotional remixes for the Cassette Kids & Hey Now.

Music time, I have three tracks for you today.
First up is a nice bootleg of Art Vs Science’s Parlez Vous Francais, Benson delivers another killer remix of a track from back in the day, and finally a Northie remix for a UK singer song writer. Each of the boys individual works show how diverse they can be and the BM bootleg shows how they combine these elements to make something special.

Art Vs. Science – Parlez Vous Francais (Brain Matters Bootleg)

Will Smith – M.I.B (Benson Bootleg)

Sam Little – Fallin (Northie Remix

When people think of Australian djs and producers people mainly think of cities on the East Coast, mainly Sydney, Melbourne & Brisbane. There is one place which in recent times is starting to pull their act together and are slowly showing their worth, this place is (r)Adelaide. In the recent inthemix top 50 djs in Australia they had two entrants being Loot & Plunder as well as Def Starr, both are renowned throughout Adelaide for their live shows, amazing mixtapes and production work.

Adelaide also have one of the craziest Thursday night parties in the country called 8 Bit Kidz. Last Thursday the people behind the weekly Suprise! party at Moulin flew in Chris Spiers who is a resident at this party, as well as One Love Saturdays in Adelaide and he absolutely blew me away. His set was perfect for a Thursday party, a great mixture of crunk, mash ups, cheese and electro, he had the small crowd working up a sweat. I heard a few of his mash ups and decided that I needed to have them for my sets, and he was kind enough to share them with me to share with you guys. Keep up to date with his myspace for all his dates and latest tracks. www.myspace.com/djchrisspiers

Deadmau5 – I Remember / Overnight Celeb (Chris Spiers Mash)

Act Yo Age – Love Bounce Tequila (Chris Spiers Mash)

Bonus round: On Deckhead 2.0 we haven’t heard much from fan favorite Benson, back on the old blog he would often supply us with some amazing remixes, including Dancin’ In the Moonlight, Ride Wit Me by Nelly and Everybody Get Up by 5ive to name a few. In recent times he has been busy working on official remixes for various artists and labels with his side project Brain Matters with Northie. Well here is a treat for you, he has remixed a track which was one of the main influences for me getting into electronic music!

Supermode – Tell Me Why (Benson Remix)
