I really wonder what a Boobmonster would look like? Is it some kind of wonderful monster which will make all the guys in the world happy, or is it a trick to lure people in before the monster destroys them? Anyway this boobmonster has done a pretty good job at remixing Oasis’s anthem Wonderwall, he has done this with Sydney boy Taras.
The Deckheads have started a new weekly residency playing on Thursday nights at The Rouge (AKA Moulin) in Kings Cross Sydney, I am pretty excited because next week Beni is playing and Def Starr have been flown in especially for the show from Radelaide. Here is their latest remix which is currently killing the blogosphere
The Killers are amongst the few mainstream bands that I can listen to and will enjoy their stuff no matter what, this obsession first started when I heard their tracks Mr Brightside & Somebody Told Me, and today I have a remix of Somebody Told Me. It is by Sydney producer Redial, this remix is another win from the boy after a series of strong tracks from him. Its a harder track by Redial compared to his recent works, its going back to the heavy hitting basslines that people throughout the world fell in love with.
I was doing my weekly browse of the hype machine popular pages and noticed a pretty interesting track that has been climbing up the charts, it was a mash up by The Hood Internet. It included the beat from Classixx remix of Lisztomania and an interesting choice of lyrics over the top, Biz Markie’s 1989 smash hit Just A Friend, I must credit the Hood Internet for once again pulling a classic track out of nowhere.
The question remains, are blogs posting it because they enjoy the mashup and appreciate the original track or is it because they just want to get a lot of traffic through? Personally I have a lot of respect for Biz Markie, mainly for how hard he worked in getting people to enjoy beatboxing when it wasn’t so mainstream. So here is my tribute for his one hit wonder from 1989 and all the work he has done since then
Biz’s Beat of the Day on the Nick Jr. show Yo Gabba Gabba!. Here is my favorite clip out of all the ones on Youtube, I always have such a laugh at his facial expressions and the concept of Biz Markie on Kids television, but by all reports the young scenester kids love it, so good luck to him!
In 2002, he appeared as an alien in Men in Black II with Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, essentially playing an alien parody of himself, whose native language sounded exactly like beatboxing.
If for some reason there is a track here that does not belong, please send through an email and it will be taken down immediately. If you feel you have what it takes to be featured on deckhead, please send an email through and we will try and work something out for you.
