I really wonder what a Boobmonster would look like? Is it some kind of wonderful monster which will make all the guys in the world happy, or is it a trick to lure people in before the monster destroys them? Anyway this boobmonster has done a pretty good job at remixing Oasis’s anthem Wonderwall, he has done this with Sydney boy Taras.

Oasis – Wonderwall (Taras & Boobmonster Remix)

The Deckheads have started a new weekly residency playing on Thursday nights at The Rouge (AKA Moulin) in Kings Cross Sydney, I am pretty excited because next week Beni is playing and Def Starr have been flown in especially for the show from Radelaide. Here is their latest remix which is currently killing the blogosphere

Fences (Def Starr Version) – Phoenix

The Killers are amongst the few mainstream bands that I can listen to and will enjoy their stuff no matter what, this obsession first started when I heard their tracks Mr Brightside & Somebody Told Me, and today I have a remix of Somebody Told Me. It is by Sydney producer Redial, this remix is another win from the boy after a series of strong tracks from him. Its a harder track by Redial compared to his recent works, its going back to the heavy hitting basslines that people throughout the world fell in love with.

For the past few weeks Redial has been working on his IV EP and is coming up with some amazing results. Over the past few years he has been releasing some pretty amazing and hard tracks, but now it is time for him to mature as a producer and add some lyrics to his tracks. For his latest track Let Me Go he has Nik Valentino on lyrical duties.

Just a quick warning for all you fans and haters out there of Redial, this track is a bit different to what we usually expect. While we are used to hard hitting sounds and heavy synths , on this track he has gone for a more subtle approach, which results in a disco twist. This reminds me of something that you would hear coming out of DatA or Clasixx studios. This is a very mature track by the Sydneysider, it shows that he is moving with the times and aiming to please a more broader audience than we are used to. Kudos!

Time for some cross blog promotion, the wonderful people over at Trashbags blog have just announced that Redial will be running a competition to feature on his next EP as an official remix on. Having gain al ot of interest with such a catchy melody line, and feel good vibe, be sure to jump onto this one. – If you have remixed this, send all remixes to info@trashbags.net.au and don’t forget to CC them to werdeckheads@gmail.com so I can also hear!

The Relaunch

In all honesty I am kind of happy that Deckhead got taken down, I guess I would have preferred it on my own terms, but hey shit happens. On Saturday morning I received an email from Google stating:

We’d like to inform you that we’ve received another complaint regarding your blog. Upon review of your account, we’ve noted that your blog has repeatedly violated Blogger’s Terms of Service. Given that we’ve provided you with several warnings of these violations and advised you of our policy towards repeat infringers, we’ve been forced to remove your blog.

Occasionally google would send us an email saying that one of our posts has been taken down aka a DMCA notification, there is a lot of ambiguity when it comes to these notifications. Not once are bloggers ever told the song that caused this take down or do they get told what the problem, there is a generic email sent out and basically the bloggers cannot do anything about, you just have to accept it and move on.

This is why I have decided to start up a new page, with a fresh outlook on music. Deckhead 2.0 will be focusing on supporting Australian artists, and especially Sydney based ones, the music that will be posted wont be posted as a way of getting more traffic or posted because we want to do a post. It will be quality music, whether it is original works, remixes, bootlegs or dare I say mash ups. We will try to be more culturally aware with events that are going on in Sydney, whether it is club nights, festivals, or gallery openings or shows. My goal is to make Deckhead a place where people can come to not only find out the latest music doing the rounds, but a way they can learn more about the artists of Sydney and Australia. Saying that I will still be promoting international producers and Djs, but tracks will not be posted to generate traffic.

Frequent readers of the old blog are sure to know Hey Now, for a few months we had weekly Wednesday posts dedicated to their production work, it was a way of getting support for their production work and also a way of promoting their Australia wide tour with Grafton Primary. Here is their latest remix of none other than Grafton Primary, this is one of their best remixes to date, I think being surrounded by their music so much has helped Hey Now create such a great remix. This news just in the Hey Now Debut Ep is finally on Itunes, all you have to do is type in “Hey Now Queens Boulevard” and purchase it for the low cost of $7, whoa! Good work boys

Grafton Primary – Records For The Righteous (Hey Now remix)

Redial has been one of the pioneers in recent years of the harder hitting electronic music scene of Sydney, releasing such bangers as 45 Overdrive, 1985 and more recently Stop The Noise with Blaze Tripp. In more recent times he has been tweaking his sound and has started to evolve as a producer, he has now modified his hard hitting synths to a more subtle and effective sound. I have two of his latest remixes on offer today, the La Roux one blew me mind.

Stay tuned for some information about a remix competition for his latest single featuring Nik Valentino.

La Roux – Bulletproof (Redial Remix)

Ladyhawke – Delerium (Redial Remix)

Just to show that we are not just focusing on Sydney talent, I have a remix from a talented young Melbourne producer by the name of Airwolf, I have been monitoring his progress for a few months now, and he is finally coming into his own as a producer.

The Aeons – Beyond The Satellites (Airwolf Remix)

Finally, this mix has been on repeat on my ipod and itunes all week, it’s a disco inspired mix by Sydney boys The Gameboys, the thing that I find most amazing about this mix is that after listening to it I could only identify one track that I knew. They have been working hard on producing some original music of their own, and if this mix is anything to go by Sydney should have a new dynamite disco duo in the shape of Shazam meets Flight Facilities meets Light year.

The Gameboys – Disco Cosmic

I would just like to thank Diego from Trashbags for helping with the relaunch, he helped out with creating that amazing banner. Check out his wonderful blog that is Trashbags Kids and stay tuned to those sites as well as Deckhead for more information about Tuff Em Up!
