You know an artist has captured your imagination, and undoubtedly everyone elses when he reaches that highest of high, the pinnacle of all greatness and the accolade of all awards, he gets into your ‘Top 25 Most Played’ on iTunes. This guy hasn’t just done that, he’s smashed it beating the likes of Skream and Bloc Party to name a few, peaking at No. 3. His name is Jakwob (a mix between his name, Jacob, and the sound his music makes ‘wobble’) and he’s the biggest thing to come out of dubstep since that really good thing that came out some time ago (Rusko). The guy hails from the Midlands and although has been hitting it big for some months now, still impresses the masses. His first release, a remix of the equally talented (save that for another day) Ellie Goulding, took him to blogging stardom within a week, and is still blogged about today. However my favourite track, and the one that got him the gold star at No. 3 is this astounding remix of Alan Pownall, A Life Worth Living. I swear the first time i listened to it i nearly wet myself. Hopefully your bladder will hold out to, but for those of you that wear Tena for Ladies, please sit on the toilet for this one….

P.S. It may not happen, but as i’m new it probably will, some wanker will try and be cool and point this out. I KNOW he’s not ‘real’ dubstep, but for the moment, thats what i’m saying.

Jakwob is indeed not “real” dubstep, but glad you noticed that Tom ;)

It is a form of dubstep but its about as mainstream as you can get. Datsik, excision, bar 9, tek – one, 16 bit and DZ are the real heavy hitting new guys though, you should check them out before saying he is the best thing since cockney thug

The reason i said he wasn’t real dubstep is because i know of those guys. They are the real deal, this is the mainstream stuff, but since there hasn’t been much dubstep on this blog before i thought i’d break people in easily. And i may have exaggerated him being the best thing since ‘The Moaners’ (my personal fave), but i love his Alan Pownall remix, and a lot of his others before and since. BIG UP to datsik and 16 bit though. They will come later bro don’t you worry.

who cares if its not real dubstep. it sounds dope and thats all that matters. i think its a good change from the super grimey “real” dubstep you get from other artists.

who cares if its ‘mainstream’ (which it really isn’t, you’re not going to hear this on the radio) or not if its good?

yeah sweet man i know what your saying. And to Ayso and bojangles This is as mainstream as heavy bassline gets apart from Chase and Satus remixing rhiana and crookers remixing kelis, im pretty sure you will be hearing those on the radio soon enough
